Q: What is hypnosis?A: Although a popular misconception is that hypnosis is a form of unconsciousness resembling sleep, contemporary research suggests that it is actually a wakeful state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility.
Q: What if I can't be hypnotized?A: Any person who is willing to be hypnotized can be. Hypnosis is a natural state where your mind is open and receptive to new beliefs and perceptions that you find acceptable.
Q: Does it feel like being asleep?A: No. In hypnosis you are mentally awake, not unconscious, and usually aware of everything that is said and done.
Q: Am I under someone else's "power" or control in hypnosis?A: No. This is a popular misconception from films or books. You are aware and in control of everything that happens.
Q: Do you own a pocket watch on a chainA: No.
Q: Can I get stuck in hypnosis?A: No. Just as you can't get stuck in a daydream or your imagination. To my knowledge this has never happened.
Q: Because I can be hypnotised does it mean I am gullible?A: Definitely not, in my experience good hypnotic subjects tend to be more intelligent and less gullible than average.
Q: How long are the sessions?A: The sessions last for 50mins, however if you turn up late, your session will begin once you arrive and complete at the original finish time.
Q: Does it work?A: I have no doubt in my mind that hypnosis has been a very succesful form of therapy for most of the clients I have worked with. I have total belief in this model of therapy.
